Recommendation: always ask for a CIF quotation to your nearest port, even if you intend to buy FOB. It gives you a realistic freight figure to compare against, and it prevents a cheap FOB price with punitive freight from looking like a bargain.

Container loading

A 40ft container typically holds 2 to 3 skid steer loaders, depending on:

• Frame size — mini and compact machines load more per container
• Whether attachments are included and how they are packed
• Cab height — enclosed cabs increase required clearance
• Whether machines are loaded with or without buckets fitted

For larger orders, consolidation across models reduces per-unit freight cost significantly. Ask us to optimise the loading plan for your order.

Landed cost: the number that matters

Your true cost includes more than the machine price:

• Machine cost (FOB or EXW)
• Ocean freight — varies with route, season and carrier
• Marine insurance — typically a small percentage of cargo value
• Import duty and VAT — set by your country; commonly 5% to 35% for construction equipment
• Port charges — terminal handling, documentation, agency fees
• Clearing charges — your customs broker
• Inland transport — port to site

Calculate all of these before comparing suppliers. A machine quoted at US$20,000 FOB with US$6,000 of freight is more expensive than one quoted at US$23,000 CIF.

Pre-shipment verification

We provide photographs of your machines before loading. For larger orders we welcome and support third-party inspection — either an inspection agency of your choice, or your own representative at our facility. Ask us to arrange access.

Landlocked destinations

If your site is inland — Zambia, Ethiopia, parts of Central Asia — the machine routes through a neighbouring port. We can quote to the port of entry, or provide a combined quotation including inland haulage. Be explicit about your destination when requesting a price so the comparison is accurate.
